Cologne/Bonn is Europe's best regional airport
Cologne Bonn Airport once again takes the lead with one of the industry's most important awards. Cologne Bonn Airport was awarded first prize in the "Best Regional Airport Europe" category at the presentation ceremony of this year's "Skytrax World Airport Awards" held in London. In a worldwide comparison, Cologne/Bonn took second place in this category. Alexandra Cahn, Head of Traffic and Terminal Operations, received the award on behalf of Cologne Bonn Airport in London last night. In recent years, the airport has consistently ranked among the leaders receiving the industry award and took first place for three years in a row in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
"Returning to first place this year is a great endorsement for all the airport staff that do their best to give our passengers a pleasant travel experience every single day. We are so proud of this award, because it's based on passenger's opinion," says Johan Vanneste, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. "We have paid a lot of attention to improving our terminals. For example, our passengers have the choice of several new gastronomic offers. A lot has happened at the shops in our terminals, and there is also new seating in Terminal 2. We're delighted that these measures have already been so well received by our passengers. As part of our strategy, we're planning additional measures to further enhance customer experience, so we can maintain our leading position over the years to come," Vanneste said.
The prestigious "industry Oscars", awarded at the "Passenger Terminal EXPO" in London yesterday, are based on a survey of around 13,5 million passengers around the world and are awarded in various categories. The survey is carried out by Skytrax, a British air transport rating organisation that asks passengers about service quality and criteria such as family friendliness and airport Shopping.
