As of 09/07/25

Requirements

This accessibility statement applies to the website of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH published at www.koeln-bonn-airport.de.

As a company, we strive to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG) and the Accessibility Enhancement Ordinance (BFSGV) implementing the European Accessibility Directive (Directive (EU) 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services).

General description

The Cologne Bonn Airport website (https://www.koeln-bonn-airport.de) offers comprehensive information for travellers, visitors and business partners about airport operations. It provides information about current arrivals and departures, services offered at the airport, transport connections and parking options. In addition, the website contains detailed information for passengers with reduced mobility, tips for preparing for travel, flight booking options, an overview of shopping and dining options in the terminal, as well as news and press releases from the airport. The website is aimed equally at passengers, visitors and businesses and is continuously updated to optimally meet the information needs of all target groups.

Status of compliance with requirements

The accessibility requirements are based on the Ordinance on the Strengthening of Accessibility (BFSGV).

The specific accessibility requirements have been implemented in accordance with Section 14 BFSG in conjunction with Section 3 (1) BFSG in the Ordinance on the Strengthening of Accessibility (BFSGV).

We provide services and information on our website in accordance with Section 2 of the Barrier-Free Access Act (BFSG) and the Ordinance on the Barrier-Free Access Act (BFSGV). We endeavour to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Disability Equality Act (BGG) and the Accessibility Enhancement Act implementing the European Accessibility Act (EAA). We have checked our website/app in accordance with the conformity criteria described below and optimised it for barrier-free use.

The specific technical measures are based on WCAG 2.1 Level A, AA.

Compliance with the requirements has been verified by an external assessment (the content was assessed by an external organisation not involved in the design and development of the product). This assessment was completed on 11 February 2025. The assessment was carried out in accordance with legal requirements and global standards (EN 301 549, WCAG 2.1 Level A, AA).

The Cologne Bonn Airport website is partially compliant with the level of conformity depicted by WCAG 2.1 Level A, AA.

Measures to ensure accessibility

Vision

The website does not require full vision and works with assistive technologies. In most cases, there are alternatives to visible content that communicate the same information.

Font, contrast, spacing:

Font sizes have been adjusted for optimal readability. The functionality of the website is adequately maintained when the text is enlarged using browser settings. Most of the content has contrasts that make it easily recognisable and distinguishable, especially when it is non-decorative content.

Spacing has been chosen to make the content easy to consume.

Keyboard accessible:

The website can be operated almost entirely with a keyboard. Interactive elements can be selected and are recognisable as such. The main exceptions are external content that is integrated into the website.

Alternatives for non-text content:

Many images are provided with alternative text that can be output via assistive technologies.

Interactive content:

Elements that are interactive or require input are consistently highlighted visually as such. This includes status changes when the element is focused or hovered over with the mouse.

Hearing:

The core functions of the website can be used without hearing impairment. Only videos are not yet fully subtitled or provided with text alternatives.

Speech

The website does not require speech to be used. All telephone contact points can also be reached by written message.

Mobility, reach, strength

Time

Time-based content can almost always be paused.

Keyboard operable:

The website can be operated almost entirely with a keyboard. Interactive elements can be selected and are recognisable as such. The main exceptions are external content that is integrated into the website.

Clickable areas:

Interactive elements are sufficiently large and spaced far enough apart from other content. This makes them easy to reach and use.

No complex or simultaneous movements:

The website works without complex, path-based or simultaneous movements.

Cognitive, psychological, neurological, neurodivergent

You can use most of the website with limited or alternative cognitive, psychological or neurological abilities. This also applies if you identify as neurodivergent.

Comprehensible content:

Some content can only be understood in context. This includes proper names and some buttons. The texts are written in a way that is easy to understand and avoid unnecessary complexity.

Headings:

The headings are meaningful and help to understand the content and find your way around. They are declared as such and can therefore be recognised by assistive technologies such as screen readers.

Correcting errors:

The website provides support for error correction. In some cases, input suggestions are made to facilitate use.

Animations:

The website uses minimal animations.

Light/flash effects:

The website does not contain any light or flash effects that could trigger photosensitive seizures.

The content listed below is not fully accessible:

The following content is not yet accessible:

Implemented videos are not provided with corresponding subtitles due to the high editorial effort involved. This will be taken into account for all new productions.
