A new highlight on the flight schedule: as of this week, there are direct flights to Abu Dhabi from Cologne Bonn Airport. Twice a week, the tour operator Etihad Holidays will connect the Rhineland to the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The flights are operated by the charter airline Smartwings.
“Abu Dhabi is one of the most modern cities in the world with a great mix of architectural highlights, cultural offerings and beautiful beaches,” says Thilo Schmid, President and CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “We are delighted to be able to offer our passengers this attractive route.”
Abu Dhabi was once a small coastal settlement, but it has grown rapidly in the last four decades and now has a population of around 1.5 million. In addition to the impressive skyline with many skyscrapers, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is one of the biggest in the world, and the Yas Marina Circuit racetrack are especially worth seeing. Due to the climate, a beach holiday is also possible in the capital of the Emirates in the autumn and winter. Furthermore, the glittering neighbouring Emirate of Dubai can be reached from Abu Dhabi in around 90 minutes.
Etihad Holidays offers a holiday to Abu Dhabi as a package holiday including a large choice of hotels and flexible duration. The Smartwings flights depart from Cologne/Bonn on Thursdays and Sundays and take around six hours. The return flights to the Rhineland depart on the same days. A modern Boeing 737-MAX-8 with 189 seats is used. The offers can be booked at www.etihadholidays.de or in a travel agency.
