Winter sun, desert sand and skyscrapers: the flight schedule at Cologne Bonn Airport now includes a direct connection to Dubai. Eurowings served the route to the emirate on the Persian Gulf for the first time from Cologne/Bonn today, Monday (28 October). The airline will fly to Dubai three times a week, always on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The flights back to the Rhineland will take place on the same days of the week. From 5 November, Eurowings will also be adding a second connection from Cologne/Bonn to the Gulf region with the route to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
‘We are extremely pleased that Eurowings is offering flights to Dubai and Jeddah from its home airport, and that these special destinations are now on our departure board,’ says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. ’Dubai has been at the top of our flight schedule wish list for some time because it is very attractive for both holidaymakers and business travellers. Together with the route to Jeddah, Eurowings and Cologne Bonn Airport offer ideal connections from the Rhineland to the Gulf region.’
Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is considered a destination of outstanding international importance and a global trade centre following its rapid development in recent decades. In addition, the capital of the same name is one of the most visited tourist hotspots in the world. The city's futuristic skyline, with numerous skyscrapers such as the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, is a magnet for many travellers. The city also offers beaches, shopping malls, parks, museums and theatres, as well as tours in the nearby desert. With around 3.5 million inhabitants, Dubai is the most populous emirate.
The flight time between Cologne/Bonn and Dubai is approximately six and a half hours. The route can be booked at www.eurowings.com from 139.99 euros (one way). Eurowings uses a modern and efficient Airbus A320neo for its flights to Dubai. The aircraft has been stationed on the airport apron for this purpose. Starting next week, the airline will also use such an aircraft to fly to the second new winter destination from Cologne/Bonn: the route to Jeddah will be launched on 5 November. The port city on the Red Sea will also be served three times a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays). The route is the first direct connection from North Rhine-Westphalia to Saudi Arabia.
