LEAV Aviation launches flights to Aleppo

First direct service between Cologne/Bonn and Aleppo.
From 17 August, twice-weekly flights to the Syrian city.

New route to Syria: LEAV Aviation is launching flights to Aleppo from Cologne Bonn Airport from 17 August. The airline will operate non-stop flights to the Syrian city twice a week – on Mondays and Saturdays. This is the first direct connection between Cologne/Bonn and Aleppo.

“With the new route to Aleppo, we are creating a direct travel option at our airport, particularly for people of Syrian origin who wish to visit family and friends back home,” says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “At the same time, the connection facilitates personal and economic exchange and creates opportunities for travel between North Rhine-Westphalia and Syria.”

“With these flights to Syria, we are re-establishing connections that many people have been waiting for for a long time – and we are therefore delighted to be flying from Cologne/Bonn to Aleppo in future,” says Daniel Broda, CEO of LEAV Aviation. “For the Syrian community in Germany, the route means shorter journeys and more opportunities for personal encounters.”

Aleppo is one of Syria’s most significant cities and an important economic centre of the country. With the new direct service, the city will in future be accessible from Cologne/Bonn without a stopover. LEAV Aviation will operate the route on Mondays and Saturdays, with return flights taking place on the same days of the week. The flight time is around four hours, and an Airbus A320-200 will be used. Flights are already bookable on www.leav.com until the end of August, with further flights becoming available for booking shortly.
