A new regular on the apron at Cologne Bonn Airport: Marabu Airlines opened a new base at the site today, Friday (11 October), to mark the start of the autumn holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia, and celebrated the first flights to and from Cologne/Bonn. The holiday airline's aircraft was greeted at the airport with a water fountain by the airport fire brigade, and passengers at the gate were welcomed with small gift bags from the airport and the airline.
‘The opening of a base is always something special – and a reason to celebrate: we are very pleased to have Marabu Airlines as a new partner at our airport,’ says Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. With initially one aircraft stationed at the airport, the sister airline of Condor will fly to three popular holiday destinations in the autumn and winter: Today, the modern Airbus A320neo set off for Fuerteventura, followed by Tenerife on Saturday and the Egyptian resort of Hurghada on Sunday. ‘With flights to these sunny destinations, which are particularly popular in autumn and winter, Marabu's commitment is an enrichment for our flight schedule and our passengers,’ says Schmid.
Marabu has launched its programme in time for the start of the autumn holidays with two weekly flights to the Canary Islands Fuerteventura (Tuesdays, Fridays) and Tenerife (Thursdays, Saturdays). Hurghada is served three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Sundays). During the autumn holidays, the airline is also offering three flights a week to Palma de Mallorca – always on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It flies back to the Rhineland on the weekdays on which the outbound flights also take place.
All flights are already bookable. Since Marabu is a sister of Condor, tickets are sold by Condor and are available from travel agencies or via the website www.flymarabu.com.
