From Cologne Cathedral to the pyramids: the airline Air Cairo has officially launched its new route to Cairo from Cologne Bonn Airport. Today, Sunday (27 October), the first flight to the Egyptian capital took off punctually at 11:40 a.m. The airline now connects Cologne/Bonn with Cairo twice a week. The connection is offered every Thursday and Sunday.
‘Cairo is always worth a visit, not least because of its rich history and the world-famous pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx,’ says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. ’And because many travellers are also drawn to Egypt in autumn and winter, the new Air Cairo route is a great addition to our flight schedule.’
Cairo is well worth seeing, on the one hand, because of its diverse past: the city has been inhabited since ancient times and has an impressive old town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are very close to the city. On the other hand, Cairo is a centre of the Arab world and scores with modern elements: the city is also known for its numerous skyscrapers, innovative hotels and lively cultural and party scene.
Air Cairo flights to Cairo depart from Cologne/Bonn on Thursdays at 2:40 p.m. and on Sundays at 11:40 a.m. After a flight time of about four hours, the plane lands in the Egyptian capital. Flights back to the Rhineland also depart every Thursday and Sunday. An Airbus A320 is used for each flight. Flights can already be booked at www.aircairo.com.
The airline also operates flights from Cologne/Bonn to Hurghada and Marsa Alam, two other destinations in Egypt, all year round.
