From dull weather into the sun of the "Golden Island": for the first time ever, last Saturday evening, travellers took off from Cologne Bonn Airport and headed to Porto Santo, the small Portuguese island northeast of Madeira. In future, travellers will be able to fly to the Atlantic island once a week thanks to specialist travel company OLIMAR. The weekly full charter flights are operated by Eurowings.

Porto Santo – about 42 km northeast of Madeira – is also known as the Golden Island and is popular with travellers, especially for its 9 km long, golden sandy beach on the south coast. Active travellers will also find plenty of opportunies: the rough hinterland of the island is suitable for long walks and bike rides; the coast ensures that divers get their money's worth, too.
A plane will take off to Porto Santo once a week, every Saturday at 16:20. The flight time from Cologne Bonn Airport is four hours.
Travel company OLIMAR is offering the new destination as a 7-day package with four-star hotel accommodation from €399. Combinations with Madeira are also possible. For children, OLIMAR offers a fixed price from €257.
