Reading Material for a Relaxed Flight

Books, magazines, travel goods and much more: today, the British bookshop chain WHSmith opened a 280 square metre book and press shop near the central security checkpoint at Cologne Bonn Airport. Passengers can find a wide range of German and international reading material there - from daily newspapers to best sellers. The offering of newspapers, magazines and books is complemented by travel accessories, souvenirs, toys and technological gadgets, non-alcoholic drinks and a selection of take-away snacks. Next week, a second 210 square metre WHSmith branch will open in the security area of Terminal 1, which will have the same extensive range.

“We are delighted to have attracted WHSmith, an internationally successful specialist in travel bookshops,” says Torsten Schrank, Managing Director of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “In the two modern, open-plan shops, our passengers will find everything that they need for a relaxed journey.”

“We are delighted to open our first shops at Cologne Bonn Airport. The shops offer customised ranges for passengers in Cologne Bonn, but at the same time they are an important addition to our growing presence on the German market,” says Andrew Thomas, International Business Development Director at WHSmith. “We are greatly looking forward to welcoming our customers to our shops in the months ahead.”

The shop in the public area of Cologne Bonn Airport will initially be open from 5 am to 8 pm. The opening hours of the shop in the security area will be based on the flight schedules.

Worldwide, WHSmith operates more than 1,700 bookshops in more than 30 countries. At airports alone, WHSmith operates more than 590 travel bookshops, including at BER Berlin, London Heathrow, Atlanta, Singapore and Sydney.
