Due to the announced strike by security staff, which has been called by the trade union ver.di, there will be considerable disruption to flight operations and numerous flight cancellations at Cologne/Bonn Airport tomorrow, Thursday 14 March. During the 24-hour strike period, 71 passenger flights (50 take-offs, 21 landings) will not take place in Cologne/Bonn according to the current status (5.15 p.m.).There may also be further flight cancellations or diversions. A total of 136 passenger flights (69 take-offs, 67 landings) were regularly scheduled for Thursday.
Passengers who have booked a flight to or from Cologne/Bonn for Thursday are urged to enquire about the status of their flight with their airline or tour operator before travelling to the airport.
The trade union ver.di has called on security staff at several German airports, including Cologne/Bonn Airport, to strike in view of ongoing wage negotiations for aviation security staff. According to the union, security staff at passenger checkpoints have been called to stop working all day on Thursday between midnight and midnight.
