Three new direct destinations in Turkey in the summer flight schedule.
Up to 49 weekly flights to Antalya.
Additional destinations round off the route network.
More connections to one of the most important target markets: SunExpress is significantly expanding its programme at Cologne Bonn Airport in the upcoming summer flight schedule with 14 additional connections to up to 78 weekly direct flights to Turkey. On the one hand, the airline will be offering an additional daily flight to Antalya from 28 March, in addition to its existing service, and will thus be flying to the popular holiday destination up to 49 times a week in future. Secondly, SunExpress is increasing the frequency of connections to Samsun and Kayseri and adding three new routes. Trabzon, Çukurova and Elazığ will be directly accessible from Cologne/Bonn with the airline for the first time.
‘The fact that SunExpress is expanding its flight schedule from Cologne/Bonn so significantly underlines the close partnership with the airline and the great importance of Turkey as a destination market for our airport,’ says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. ‘With the new connections and additional frequencies, we are further expanding our route network and offering our passengers an even wider range of options – both for holidays and for visits to family and friends.’
"We are very pleased to be significantly expanding our offering from Cologne/Bonn this summer. With up to 78 weekly direct connections to Turkey, including seven daily flights to Antalya alone, connections to Izmir and Dalaman, and new routes to Anatolia, we will be serving nine destinations in Turkey in future. The expansion to over one million seats per year for the first time reflects the high demand from both holidaymakers and travellers visiting family and friends. Our long-standing partnership with Cologne/Bonn Airport and its competitive cost structures form the basis for the continuous development of our services at this important location," says Helmut Wölfel, Commercial Director at SunExpress.
The new additional SunExpress flights to Antalya will start on 28 March, departing daily at 7.45 a.m., while the family-friendly daytime flights will remain in place. Another new feature is the return flight from Antalya at 4.40 p.m., arriving in Cologne/Bonn at 7.40 p.m., allowing passengers to make the most of their holiday time. In the summer flight schedule, the city in southern Turkey, the central starting point for beach holidays on the Mediterranean, will thus be accessible up to seven times a day with the airline from Cologne/Bonn – more frequently than from any other airport. The flight time is around three and a half hours.
In addition to expanding its service to Antalya, SunExpress is adding further destinations to its programme from Cologne/Bonn that are particularly attractive for travellers visiting family and friends in Turkey. New to the airport is the connection to Trabzon, which will initially be offered once a week, every Monday, starting on 30 March. A second weekly flight will be added on 22 May (Fridays). There will also be one flight per week, and later two, to Çukurova (every Sunday starting on 29 March, and additionally on Wednesdays starting on 13 May). The airport in the south of the country is a new destination in the airline's route network from Cologne/Bonn – as is Elazığ, which will be served once a week (on Thursdays) from 2 April.
SunExpress is also increasing the frequency of two existing routes in its summer flight schedule: from 24 June, there will be two weekly flights to Samsun instead of one (Wednesdays (new) and Saturdays), and from 25 June, there will be three flights a week to Kayseri instead of two (Tuesdays, Thursdays (new) and Saturdays).
