The service union ver.di has called for warning strikes at several German airports at the start of the coming week. Cologne/Bonn Airport is also affected. The background to this is the ongoing wage negotiations for employees in the public sector. The union is calling on public sector employees at the airport to stop work from early Monday morning, 10 March, until early Tuesday morning, 11 March. Staff from ground handling service providers at the site have also been called out on a warning strike.
Massive disruptions to flight operations in Cologne/Bonn and flight cancellations are to be expected as a result of the calls for strike action. Passengers are urgently requested to enquire with their airline or tour operator before travelling to the airport as to whether and how their flights are affected by the warning strikes.
During the strike period, 160 regular passenger flights (81 take-offs, 79 landings) are scheduled.
Note to editors: The airport will provide up-to-date information as soon as further information on the effects of the labour strikes is available, probably in the course of Sunday.
