Wide variety in the new winter flight schedule

Beach holiday, city break or adventure trip: in the new winter flight schedule at Cologne Bonn Airport, a total of 21 airlines will be flying to 69 destinations in 29 different countries from Sunday (27 October). The programme includes routes to popular year-round destinations, new routes and destinations that are returning to the airlines' programmes. A highlight of the flight schedule are the two new connections offered by Eurowings: the airline will in future fly from Cologne/Bonn to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

‘A wide variety of different destinations for every taste – that's what characterises our flight schedule even in the upcoming colder months: from beach holidays to city trips to adventure trips, anything is possible,’ says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. ’Of course, we are particularly pleased that our partner Eurowings is now also offering routes from Cologne/Bonn to Dubai and Jeddah.’

On Monday, 28 October, Eurowings will take off for the first time from Cologne Bonn Airport to Dubai. The route to the capital of the emirate of the same name will be flown three times a week, always on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. A modern and efficient Airbus A320neo will be used for the flights, which will be stationed at the airport for this purpose. Such an aircraft will also be used for the second new connection: from 5 November, Eurowings will also fly three times a week to Jeddah. The flights to the port city on the Red Sea will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The route to Jeddah is the first direct connection from North Rhine-Westphalia to Saudi Arabia. In its winter flight schedule, Eurowings is also offering flights to destinations that were previously only served during the summer months: Alicante and Valencia in Spain, as well as Chișinău in Moldova, will now also be served from around mid-December to the beginning of January and from the beginning of February.

Marabu Airlines is new in Cologne/Bonn. The Estonian airline has opened a base at the airport to coincide with the start of the current autumn holidays and stationed an Airbus A320neo on the apron. This aircraft will be used to fly travellers to sunny destinations during the colder months ahead, with flights to the Canary Islands of Fuerteventura and Tenerife, as well as to Hurghada in Egypt. Since Marabu is a sister airline of the lGerman airline Condor, tickets for the flights will be sold by Condor.

In the new winter flight schedule, Air Cairo is also adding a new destination from Sunday (27 October): in addition to the connections to Hurghada and Marsa Alam, the airline will also be flying to the Egyptian capital Cairo. Ryanair is now offering two routes that were not recently included in the flight schedule: Kaunas in Lithuania and Bristol in England. Pegasus Airlines now offers flights to four destinations in Turkey that were previously only served during the summer: Cukurova, Gaziantep, Elazig and Kayseri. The British airline Jet2.com has a long tradition of operating flights from Cologne/Bonn during the Christmas season: the airline is once again connecting the airport with Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle in England between the end of November and the beginning of January, and is even increasing the number of flights compared to last year.

Popular destinations such as the sunny Spanish island of Mallorca or Antalya in Turkey will continue to be served several times a day by various airlines throughout the year. In addition, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines and British Airways offer high frequencies to their hubs in Munich, Istanbul, Vienna and London Heathrow respectively. The winter flight schedule is valid until 30 March 2025.
