New route to the capital of the Republic of Moldova.
The airline is further expanding its services to Eastern Europe from Cologne/Bonn.
A route to Podgorica will follow in June.
Another capital city connection has been added to the departure board: Wizz Air is now flying from Cologne Bonn Airport to Chișinău, thereby further expanding its route network to Eastern Europe. The airline will operate twice-weekly flights between the airport and the capital of the Republic of Moldova.
Since its return to Cologne/last autumn, Wizz Air has already launched services to Bucharest, Skopje, Tirana and Tuzla. From June, the airline will also expand its schedule to include flights to Podgorica in Montenegro.
“With the new route to Chișinău, Wizz Air is consistently expanding its presence at our airport and adding another attractive capital city connection in Eastern Europe to our offering,” says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “We are delighted that the airline’s expansion is offering our passengers additional travel options in this important market.”
"We are excited to further expand our network from Cologne/Bonn with the launch of our new direct route to Chișinău, adding another attractive capital city to our growing Eastern European offering. Moldova is an increasingly interesting destination for both leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives travel, and this new connection reflects our commitment to bringing more affordable, direct and convenient travel opportunities to passengers in Germany and across our network,” says Anastasia Novak, Corporate and Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
The capital of the Republic of Moldova is the country’s political, economic and cultural centre. Key attractions include the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord, built in 1836, and the neighbouring Triumphal Arch. The city is also an ideal starting point for trips to Moldova’s famous wine regions.
Flights to Chișinău depart from Cologne/Bonn every Tuesday and Saturday and take around two and a half hours. Wizz Air operates modern Airbus A321neo aircraft on this route. Flights are now available to book at www.wizzair.com and via the Wizz Air app.
