Wizz Air launches new route to Chișinău

Airline will begin to operate flights from 23 of May.
Return to Cologne/Bonn since autumn with routes to Eastern Europe.

Another new destination for Wizz Air: The airline is expanding its services at Cologne Bonn Airport and will connect the Rhineland with Chișinău this spring. From 23 May, the airline will fly twice a week to the capital of the Republic of Moldova. The flights will always take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

“It is a great sign that Wizz Air is deepening its commitment to our airport and will soon be adding another capital city connection in Eastern Europe with Chișinău,’ says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. ‘Following the airline’s return last autumn and the first routes added since then, this new connection once again confirms our partnership and cooperation.”

Chișinău is the next new destination that Wizz Air has announced for this year from Cologne/Bonn. From 2 June, the airline will also offer flights to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro (four times a week). Wizz Air has been flying to the Romanian capital Bucharest since October. Since December, flights to the capitals Skopje (North Macedonia) and Tirana (Albania) as well as to Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina) have also been added to the schedule. These four destinations will also be offered in the upcoming summer flight schedule.

“By launching flights between Cologne and Chișinău, Wizz Air offers passengers the opportunity to travel on modern Airbus A320 family aircraft, with the average age of 4,7 years. You can enjoy the quality service at an attractive price. Our aim is to combine, reliability and affordability for our passengers. Let’s WIZZ together to new destinations!”, adds Anastasia Novak, Corporate & Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air.

Chișinău is the political, economic and cultural centre of the Republic of Moldova. Extensive parks, boulevards and historic buildings characterise the cityscape. Chișinău is also considered the gateway to the country's famous wine-growing regions and is an ideal starting point for exploring the region.

Flights to Moldova depart on Tuesdays and Saturdays and take around two and a half hours. Wizz Air is using modern A321neo aircraft on the new route to Chișinău. Flights can now be booked at www.wizzair.com and in the Wizz Air app.
