26 airlines fly to 115 destinations in 38 countries.
Eleven new destinations in the flight schedule.
Focus on expanding important target markets.
A wide selection – for your next vacation and beyond: With the start of the summer flight schedule on March 29, the range of routes offered at Cologne Bonn Airport is growing. The airport presented the new flight schedule at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin. In the coming months, a total of 26 airlines will fly from Cologne/Bonn to 115 destinations in 38 countries. Eleven new routes will be added, along with additional frequencies to important destination regions such as Turkey and even more targeted connections to major European cities. Popular classics such as Palma de Mallorca and other destinations in the sunny south are also a major part of the offering. Passengers can thus choose from a wide range of destinations – for vacations, city breaks, visits to family and friends, or business trips.
“The new summer flight schedule demonstrates the dynamic development of the airport's services. Our airline partners are expanding their route networks with new destinations and strengthening existing connections – passengers throughout the region benefit from this diversity in the flight schedule,” says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “At the same time, it continues to be evident that competitive conditions are crucial for air traffic locations in Germany: further relief measures are helping the entire industry to develop additional connections.”
Belgrade, Podgorica & Co: Eleven new destinations in the summer flight schedule
The airport's new flight schedule adds a total of eleven new destinations to the route network that were not directly served in the previous summer. Eurowings, the airport's most important airline partner and largest carrier, will offer more than 70 direct destinations from Cologne/Bonn in the coming months – including three completely new routes: the two capitals Belgrade (Serbia; twice a week) and Tbilisi (Georgia; twice a week) and the connection to London Gatwick Airport, which will be served 13 times a week. In addition, the airline will serve two further destinations that are new to Eurowings' summer schedule: Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, and Arrecife on Lanzarote.
Wizz Air – which returned to the airport last fall – will fly to six different destinations in Eastern Europe and the Balkans this summer. Four of the destinations are new to Cologne/Bonn, including three capitals: Podgorica (Montenegro), Skopje (North Macedonia), and Bucharest (Romania). Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina will also be served. All new destinations will be served four times a week by Wizz Air.
There are also new connections in Turkey: SunExpress is launching flights to Trabzon (twice a week), AJet is adding Sivas to its program, and Pegasus Airlines will also fly to Diyarbakir in the summer (both once a week). Arkia Israeli Airlines also plans to connect Tel Aviv with Cologne/Bonn (once a week) when this becomes possible again. The new routes mean that five more countries can be reached directly from Cologne/Bonn: Georgia, Romania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Israel.
The most important market: 2.1 million passengers to Turkey
This year, there is also a special focus on Turkey, the largest destination region from Cologne/Bonn. By the end of October, more than 2.1 million passengers are expected to fly to the country. During the peak season around the holidays, there are up to 20 daily flights to Antalya alone from various airlines – more than from any other airport in Germany. Airlines are increasingly using wide-body aircraft on the route to the popular seaside resort and on other high-demand routes such as Istanbul.
SunExpress plays a central role in the Turkish market. The airline is continuing to expand its services in Cologne/Bonn to both tourist destinations and cities with high demand for visits to family and friends. For example, the airline is offering an additional daily flight to Antalya. This means that it will fly to the popular holiday resort up to 49 times a week in future – also a record in Germany. In addition to Trabzon, SunExpress will also fly to Çukurova and Elazığ in the summer and increase the frequency of connections to Samsun and Kayseri. Furthermore, with the addition of Diyarbakir as its tenth destination, Pegasus Airlines now has its largest Turkish network in Germany at Cologne/Bonn.
Eastern Europe also remains an important growth market for the airport: connections will be significantly strengthened with the expansion of Wizz Air's services, which will fly to Chişinău and Tirana in addition to the new destinations, as well as Eurowings' expansion to Belgrade and Tbilisi.
Focus on connections to major cities
“It is very important to us to tailor our route network to the wishes of our passengers and to offer the best possible connections to the most important European destinations,” says airport CEO Schmid. “As the new destinations and expansions show, we are also placing a special focus on connections to European capitals and major cities, which we are continuously expanding.” With the additional routes, the number of European capitals that can be reached by direct flight has grown to 26. Many important cities that are not capitals – such as economic and tourist centers like Barcelona and Milan – also have excellent connections to Cologne/Bonn.
The tried-and-tested classics for beach vacations are also particularly popular this summer – especially Palma de Mallorca and other destinations on the Mediterranean. These connections form the backbone of the airport's tourist offering and make the route network from Cologne/Bonn balanced and attractive. This also includes close connections to major international hubs such as Munich, Istanbul, Vienna, and Zurich, which are served several times a day. From there, it is possible to fly on to destinations worldwide.
Looking ahead to winter: Further new destinations have already been confirmed
The summer flight schedule is valid until October 25 – but it's already worth taking a look at the upcoming 2026/2027 winter flight schedule. Air Cairo is planning a new connection to Luxor (once a week) starting in the fall, which will give it the airline's largest offering in Germany from Cologne/Bonn – with flights to Hurghada, Cairo, Marsa Alam, and Luxor. In addition, the British airline Jet2.com is expanding its program to include flights to Bristol (twice a week). Further new routes are already in the planning stage and are being developed in cooperation with airline partners.
