New motifs spark holiday enthusiasm throughout Cologne and demonstrate solidarity with the city.
Holiday feeling meets love of home: with the third edition of their joint location campaign, Cologne-based airline Eurowings and Cologne Bonn Airport have been bringing the Cologne lifestyle back to the streets of the cathedral city since 1 September. For a whole month, new motifs on a total of 880 surfaces will whet people's appetite for travel – while at the same time showing the airport and airline's connection to their shared home region.
‘Eurowings has been our most important partner and the largest airline at the airport for many years – and as a Cologne-based airline, it has strong ties to the city and the region. With this campaign, we are jointly demonstrating what defines us: our partnership, our love for our home region and our joy of travelling,’ says Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH.
The new edition follows on from its predecessors from the previous two years, when slogans such as ‘Kölner Highe’, ‘Rut un Wiess’, ‘Mer stonn zesamme’ and ‘Drink doch ene met’ shaped the cityscape. This success story will continue in 2025 – this time with new slogans such as ‘Jet im Sunnesching’ and ‘Kölle Ratjada’. The motifs show striking Cologne landmarks such as the cathedral, the banks of the Rhine, the packed Rhein-Energie-Stadion of 1. FC Köln and the airport with the skyline in the background – bringing together regional identity and holiday feeling.
The campaign will run until the end of September. The motifs can be seen on more than 400 large-scale posters, around 370 City Lights and giant posters throughout the Cologne city area. The LED screen at the Lanxess Arena and the Mega Wall directly at the airport will also be used. The new motifs will also appear on postcards.
Parallel to the campaign in Cologne, Eurowings is launching a campaign in Düsseldorf. In this way, the airline is demonstrating its special connection to the airports in both cities.
‘The campaign is a clear commitment to the location and a real labour of love for us: we are showing with a wink and with pride what makes the two cities and their people so distinctive and special,’ says Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings. ‘Our roots are in North Rhine-Westphalia, and from our large bases in Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn, we fly many millions of passengers to destinations throughout Europe every year. This is only possible through close and successful cooperation with the two airports.’
