Airline connects the airport with Athens and Damascus
Two additional capital city connections from Cologne/Bonn: Air Mediterranean is now connecting Cologne Bonn Airport with both Athens and Damascus in Syria, as connecting flights to these destinations are available on the same aircraft. The new direct flights to Athens with connecting options to Damascus are now available every Wednesday.
‘This new airline further expands our range of capital city connections,’ says Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. ‘The flights to Athens are attractive both for holidaymakers travelling to Greece and for passengers planning onward travel to Syria.’
‘We are delighted to be working with Cologne Airport to offer passengers from Germany and the surrounding area a convenient way to travel to Athens, Damascus and beyond,’ says Air Mediterranean Accountable Manager Captain Marios Samprakos. ‘As we focus on expanding our route network, we are inspired to meet the needs of passengers and fly around the world with Mediterranean hospitality.’
Athens, the vibrant capital of Greece, uniquely combines ancient history with modern lifestyle. The city is famous for its impressive archaeological sites, including the Acropolis, which towers majestically over the city and is a symbol of the cradle of democracy and Western civilisation. In addition to its historical significance, Athens offers a lively cultural scene, diverse culinary offerings and a vibrant nightlife.
Damascus is the fascinating capital of Syria and is considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The narrow streets of the old town are characterised by historic souks and impressive mosques. Damascus is known for its cultural diversity, hospitable people and famous mezze cuisine. Despite the challenges the city has faced in recent years, Damascus remains a vibrant centre of history and culture in the Middle East.
Flights to Athens, offered by Air Mediterranean with the option of continuing on to Damascus, depart from Cologne/Bonn on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Return flights are on the same days of the week. The flight time to Athens is three hours, with a two-hour connecting flight to Damascus. A Boeing 737 will be used. Tickets for the new route can be booked through all major travel agencies, online travel agencies and at www.fly2syria.com.
