Daily flights to Milan-Linate with Italy's major airline
With immediate effect, the Italian tricolore can once again be seen on the apron of Cologne Bonn Airport: the time-honoured airline Alitalia will fly from Cologne/Bonn to Milan Linate. Once a day, seven days a week, an Embraer 175 with 88 seats will take off to the city in the northern Italian region of Lombardy.
"We are delighted with the commitment of Alitalia, Italy's long-standing airline, for two reasons. With Linate, our passengers have an interesting alternative for their Milan trip at their disposal. And what is more, with the SkyTeam airline alliance, which Alitalia belongs to, the third major alliance besides Star Alliance and One World is now represented in Cologne/Bonn,” says Johan Vanneste, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. Almost 20 years ago, Alitalia was already part of the Cologne/Bonn flight schedule: the airline flew to Milan-Malpensa from 2000 to 2001.
Linate is the third airport in Milan that passengers can fly to from Cologne/Bonn. Up until now, other airlines have been flying from here to Milan-Malpensa and Milan-Bergamo. Linate is the city airport of Milan, and passengers can reach the city by bus in about 15 minutes. This proximity makes Linate Airport popular with business travellers.
But the new destination also provides fashionistas with a practical alternative. Milan is one of the major fashion capitals of the world, and long-established fashion houses such as Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Prada, Valentino and Versace are based there. The twice-yearly Milan Fashion Week is one of the most important events in the global fashion scene.
Lovers of art and cultural history will also find themselves in the right place in Milan. At the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent, for example, visitors can admire Leonardo da Vinci's world-famous “The Last Supper” mural. In contrast, the impressive Milan Cathedral is one of Italy's most famous monuments and one of the largest churches in the world. The five-nave interior can accommodate up to 5,000 people.
