Airport deliveries
Cologne/Bonn Airport is obliged by EU legislation to intensify the control of airport deliveries. Since 29 April 2012, all airport deliveries that are delivered to the security area of Cologne/Bonn Airport must therefore be 100% checked.
Here you will find all the essential information on the subject of "airport deliveries". If you have any further questions, please get in touch with the contact person named below.
If you have any questions regarding the collection/dispatch of a parcel, please contact the Warehouse Management department.
Definition of "airport delivery"
According to Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, airport supplies are all goods intended for sale, use or provision for specific purposes or activities in security restricted areas of airports. This does not include air freight or air mail.
Opportunities for suppliers
According to the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, a known supplier of airport supplies is a "supplier whose procedures comply with common security rules and standards sufficient to authorise the supply of airport supplies to security restricted areas."
In the case of known suppliers of airport supplies, there is no need to check the deliveries of goods before they are brought into the sensitive security area. To obtain this status, please get in touch with the contact person listed below beforehand. This person will explain to you the requirements to be met for designation as a "known supplier for airport deliveries". Only then can a corresponding application be submitted to Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. If the requirements are met and after an inspection of the operating site, the airport operator will approve the application and designate the supplier as a known supplier.
If there is no recognition as a "known supplier", the delivery of goods must be fully checked before being brought into the sensitive security area at the airport.
There are two ways to do this:
- The supplier enters the security area of the airport independently. This requires a permanent or daily pass and a badge/vehicle permit (information/forms here).
The supplier shall use the central goods inspection and acceptance centre (see below for directions) in order to have the necessary inspections carried out by appropriately qualified personnel within an appropriate framework. The supplier unloads the goods at the Cologne Bonn Cargo Centre (Hall K). The airport delivery is also checked there by qualified personnel.
- The subsequent transfer of the goods to the customer/recipient in the sensitive security area is carried out by Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH.
Or the supplier drives the "empty" vehicle independently through the central goods inspection and acceptance point into the security area. In this case, the requirements for access to the security area must be met.
- Alternatively, it is possible for the customer/recipient to collect the goods in the secure area at the central goods inspection and acceptance point.
Directions for all suppliers (except terminals)
The central goods inspection and acceptance point, which must be approached by all suppliers, is located in Kriegerstraße at the CBCC (Cologne Bonn Cargo Centre). The exact directions can be found below.
