Airport deliveries
Cologne/Bonn Airport is required by EU law to intensify checks on airport deliveries. Since 29 April 2012, all airport deliveries to the security area of Cologne/Bonn Airport must therefore be checked 100%.
Here you will find all the essential information on the subject of ‘airport deliveries’. If you have any further questions, please contact the person named below (see Contact).
Definition of "airport delivery"
According to Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, airport deliveries are defined as ‘all items intended for sale, use or provision for specific purposes or activities in security restricted areas of airports’. This does not include air freight or airmail.
Opportunities for suppliers
According to the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, a known supplier of airport supplies is a "supplier whose procedures comply with common security rules and standards sufficient to authorise the supply of airport supplies to security restricted areas."
In the case of known suppliers of airport supplies, there is no need to check the deliveries of goods before they are brought into the sensitive security area. To obtain this status, please get in touch with the contact person listed below beforehand. This person will explain to you the requirements to be met for designation as a "known supplier for airport deliveries". Only then can a corresponding application be submitted to Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. If the requirements are met and after an inspection of the operating site, the airport operator will approve the application and designate the supplier as a known supplier.
If the supplier is not designated as a ‘known supplier’, the goods must be checked in full before being taken into the sensitive security area at the airport.
There are two options for this:
The supplier drives into the security area of the airport independently. A permanent or day pass and a vehicle pass/vehicle permit are required for this.
The supplier uses checkpoint Z40 (see below for directions) to have the necessary checks carried out by appropriately qualified personnel within a reasonable time frame.
- The supplier unloads the goods at the goods inspection point (WKS). There, the airport delivery is also checked by qualified personnel.
- The goods are then transported to the ordering/receiving person in the sensitive security area by Cologne/Bonn Airport GmbH.
- Alternatively, the supplier may drive an ‘empty’ vehicle through checkpoint Z40 independently into the security area. In this case, the requirements for access to the security area must be met.
- Alternatively, the person placing the order/receiving the goods can collect the goods in the security area at the goods control point (WKS).
