Permanent access to the security area
If you would like to apply for a permanent airport ID card/vehicle ID card, you have come to the right place. To ensure a speedy check or entry, please note the following information:
Cologne/Bonn Airport operates the personnel and goods checkpoints with the help of security service providers. Before entering the sensitive part of the security area, persons and vehicles are checked. There are several personnel and goods checkpoints in the terminals. There is also the Z40 checkpoint, the central checkpoint/gate A, the people checkpoint at P5 and the Z0 checkpoint with direct access to the apron.
To ensure that the checks can be carried out quickly and without disrupting operations,
- Note that journeys into the sensitive part of the security area are only permitted if they are operationally necessary and a corresponding authorisation (personal ID cards/vehicle ID cards) is available.
- to avoid carrying unnecessary items on the person or in the vehicles when accessing/entering the sensitive part of the security area, as this prolongs the control process and the waiting time for third parties.

a) Valid reliability according to §7 LuftSiG:
You have received a corresponding official notification?
Please enclose this with the "Airport ID Card" application form.
You have not received a corresponding official decision?
Apply for an official background check using the "Background check" application form.
b) A valid aviation security training course in accordance with LuftSiSchulV:
You are in possession of the relevant security training programme
. Please enclose this with the "Airport ID Card" application form.
You do not have the appropriate security training?
You can request an appointment here to complete the required security training course.
c) Presentation of a valid identity card/passport when collecting the airport ID card:
A valid identity card or passport must be presented when collecting the airport ID card at the registration desk. Other documents (driving licence or residence permit) cannot be accepted.

Important note on the application process:
Entry to the security area must always be applied for formally and individually for each vehicle for the calendar year. A formally applied for and authorised vehicle ID card can only be issued to a person who is in possession of an airport ID card.
Extension of the validity of the vehicle licence:
The validity of a vehicle licence already issued and present on the vehicle can be extended for the new calendar year. For this purpose, the following application form "Extension of validity of vehicle licence security area" must be used.
Important: All required documents (vehicle licence, proof of insurance when driving on the apron) must be submitted again with this application.

Registering a new vehicle or changing a vehicle, licence plate or windscreen:
For vehicles that do not yet have a vehicle registration document or for new vehicle registrations and for a change of vehicle, licence plate or windscreen, the application form "Application for new vehicle registration document security area" must be used.
