Who is myclimate?
myclimate – the Climate Protection Partnership – sponsors projects which directly reduce greenhouse gases, thus providing real climate protection. The international initiative based in Switzerland is one of the world’s leading providers of voluntary carbon offsetting measures. The myclimate projects are effective in that they substitute renewable energies for fossil fuels or are aimed at making more efficient use of energy.
myclimate projects have to fulfil strict standards: In addition to reducing greenhouse gases, for example, they also have to make a verifiable positive contribution to sustainable development and be both ecologically and socially compatible. All myclimate projects are externally verified and are registered under either the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol and/or the Gold Standard, or they are in this registration process. The Gold Standard is a label developed by environmental organisations that guarantees that the projects, alongside reducing CO2 emissions, also have other sustainable impacts in the project region. The projects must achieve a realistic, measurable and long-term impact on the climate.
