The comprehensive redesign of the security checkpoint in Terminal 1 has begun. Cologne/Bonn is the first airport in Germany to equip all security lanes with state-of-the-art CT technology. The design and layout of the security checkpoint will also be changed. The renovation will take place in stages until next summer. The first new security lanes with state-of-the-art CT technology are scheduled to go into operation at the beginning of 2026.
Due to the construction work, there will be temporary changes to the route around the security checkpoint. The highest level of security will be maintained at all times during the renovation.
The new security checkpoint will be one of the most modern in Europe. The investment of around €25 million will offer noticeable added value for passengers, making processes more convenient and the travel experience even more pleasant.
